Friday: September 22 - This is the start of the blog. There is an issue with the webpage. I cannot use the back function because it doesn't load the header. Might be a mistake using hx-get instead of hx-target
Friday: Sep 29 - Switched to using href and am now able to access pages with more ease. Still working on editing for "Sometimes in the Morning". Hopefully this website will be ready to launch for its premiere. Still not sure what I am doing with my life :/
Monday: Oct 9 - Started a new job this week. Haven't had a chance to work on website in a bit but that's just me being a bit lazy. Was listening to "In Rainbows" yesterday and I swear its faster than I remember. Maybe I am just getting old. Free Palestine.
Wednesday: Oct 18 - Parker told me I said the only way this website was going to get built was if I used square space. Only time will tell Parker. Let Jonah be my witness, I am building this website. "We are all one hot potato away."-Jonah
Friday: Oct 20 - "to pay attention, this is our endless and proper work." -Mary Oliver. "consider gain and loss but never be greedy. everything will come" -A fortune cookie taped onto the side of a printer at work. These two quotes have been my mantras in recent days.
Monday: Jan 8 - Working on this again. Things I need: more digital photos. There are currently none. Sequence and currate existing galeries. There is no sense of rhythm between the images. Really love the one image of Luis though. That guy gets me.
Wednesday: Jan 24 - I am one week away from launching this website. Set a goal for myself to have it up and running by the end of the month. As an incentive I am organinzing a website launch party. I wonder what people will think of the website. Looking at all the images layed out on our living room walls makes me feel very humbled. My life's work so far.
Monday: Feb 12 - A lot has happened since I last updated this blog. I am doing so now at Kai's request. The website launch part happened on 1/31/2024 and was a success. For a moment it was nice to be surrounded by friends who have accompanied me throughout my life at different points. Photography in a sense has always been about memories for me. Mia saw the image of 5 people walking through a field and immediately remembered that was the day Charlie and Natalie moved into our home. Luis was surprised to find himself not only in many pictures but he also learned he was present for the making of a lot of these images. We drank, we talked, and we listened to a playlist of hits from 2000-2010. There is much work to be done on this project. For example: I need to link this website to the url I purchased. I want to update the design of the individual film page. This will take time but I hope to see progress slowly compound on this project. I asked Kai what to write about. From inside the kitchen he told me to talk about what I do for fun in my free time. Here's your answer Kai: I enjoy exploring my feelings in my free time. Opening myself up to the world to see what it has to tell me. My thoughts are usually about myself. Learning what I enjoy and what I don't. I like taking the bus to go watch a movie at the theather in Japantown. The people that work there are nice but I feel bad that I am supporting a larger corporation like AMC rather than a local theater. However the films I am interested in watching are sometimes only shown there. I like coming home to a warm home, a place where I can rest my tired everything.
Thursday: May 16 - Turned 24 recently. Had a party to celebrate and in true only child fashion, held trivia about myself as one of the party activities.
I cannot remeber much since then but my life does feel different. After a hiatus, I am returning to work on Sometimes In The Morning. The editing phase of the
project is over, now I move on to work on sound. I watched a movie called Columbus (2017) and felt heavily inpsired by its sound design. The minimal approached
to how quiet and beautiful life becomes is something I need to capture in my journey into sound. I have also returned to the dark room to make prints.
This was something I promised myself I would do this year. I drive to Santa Cruz to work at the darkroom on campus. Having a dedicated time to work on my art has
given me a newfound appreciation for photography. If a bricklayer works to build churches, I would like to think that I am working on building a chapel for my memories.
I am eager to share the work I have done but there is still a lot to be done if I want to achieve technical and artistic mastery. Discipline is something
I believe I lack. The feeling of starting on a new project always beckons to me but as I get older, there is a sadness that comes from not finishing what I started.
Perhaps others feel the same. As always, I continue to do photography. My recent big accomplishment was designing a publication for the store. Seems like graphic
design has found me. Luckily I do enjoy physical publications. In my dream world, I travel the world and make photobooks. Every step hopefully leads me in that direction.
